This tall and extremely elegant 59” tall mare is the daughter of Allegra, who has produced nothing but the highest quality Haflingers throughout her breeding career. Her impressive repertoire of offspring includes the Austrian breeding stallion by Beryll, “Barrique”, who recently scored in the highest group at the Tirolian Stallion Performance Test. In 1998, Allegra daughters Amika and Askona (full sisters to Ariffa) were shown to two of the most prestigious titles in Europe: Askona won the Two-Year-Old mare class at the European Championships in Luxembourg, while Amika won the Three-Year-Old Elite Mare class at the Mare Show in Ebbs, Austria.
From the moment we saw Ariffa at Paul Wolf's farm in Ichgl, Austria before the Ebbs Filly Sale in September of 1998, we knew that she was destined for greatness. She was indeed the second highest-selling filly of the sale, and many breeders commented afterwards, perhaps the best. She has attended two shows here in North America: The 2000 AHR National Show, where she competed in the “In Hand” class and was inspected and classified. She went on to be the National Junior Champion Mare in 2000, as well as the Reserve Grand Champion Mare. She scored an impressive 79 points at her inspection to obtain the Silver ribbon, narrowly missing the Gold. The exquisite head, exceptional type and beautiful neck on this quality mare all scored eights and nines on her inspection scorecard, a copy of which may be obtained from the TOF office. Her second show was the 2002 National Show, where she was crowned Senior Champion Mare and ultimately won the 2002 National Grand Champion Mare title.
The first foal from Ariffa TOF, born 02/06/02, by Walzertakt, was an absolute beauty, who won “Best of Show” against all ages of mares at the 2002 Missouri Haflinger Show. She was deemed “Class 1” caliber in an informal evaluation from Mr. Hannes Schweisgut himself at the 2002 Tudor Oaks Farm Open House. Tragically, this exquisite filly was born just a day after the untimely death of Ariffa's breeder, Mr. Paul Wolf, who died of a heart attack at only 43 years of age and never got to see the American fruits of his breeding program. In honor of Paul, we named the filly “Angel of Trissana” after the river “Trissana” which flows through the valley where Paul and his family lived.
The 2003 colt by Walzertakt, “Windsong TOF”, is developing well as potential stallion material, and we will be watching his progress closely as a possible stallion candidate for Tudor Oaks Farm. Ariffa TOF is awaiting her 2004 foal by Where's Waldo, due April 10. Anyone wishing to purchase that foal should contact us at Tudor Oaks.
